Rain festival

Rain festival went great today! It was a BIG DEAL and half of my classes were cancelled.  OK, so I cancelled them so they could go work on their rooms.  The poor 9th graders had a Chemistry test though.  Bummer.  The rooms were fantastic.  6th Graders did Treasure Island and had a ship they built in their room.  7th and 8th did Narnia and had an actual wardrobe for you to walk through to get to the room.  This is just an example.   All of the classes, pre-K and up, did a fantastic job.
We started with the parade.  Each class was introduced and a short synopsis of their book, then they paraded up the commons area to the judges.  Next we went to each room for games and candy.  In between we headed to grab dinner at the vendors.  Lastly we had the awards ceremony.  It was quite an event and showed the fantastic school spirit Heritage has.

Our Oompa Loopa and Elephant!  Caleb won 3rd place for his costume and Kianna's class won for best participation.  Caleb's class theme was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", while Kianna's was the "Jungle Book"

There was pizza, ice cream, and food from Samauri.  We were all happy!

Little Dude's parents were both busy during the awards ceremony so Joel offered to hold him.  He's by far the most photographed person on campus :)  (the baby, not Joel ;)

Speaking of Joel, he has been on-call at the hospital all week, drove across town in terrible traffic for a few hours at the rain festival to be there for the kids, then had to go back across town to work the night shift.  He's one dedicated daddy!
