Raising support in the words of the good Dr. Foulkes

Every month that we receive our missionary statement, I am humbled! I am humbled because hard working people choose to give us their hard earned money, what a humbling feeling that is. And this month is no different, as God has used wonderful people to meet our needs. However humbling it is, though sometimes it is not easy.

  As I had the privilege recently of reading To Africa With Love by Dr. Jim Foulkes, a wonderful man whom God used mightily (and a good read) in his book he states, "before Jim and his bride could leave for the remote regions of Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), they would have to face the same difficult problem that all missionaries going out with faith missions face: collecting a support team to undergird their ministry with prayer and finances. For Jim, it was somewhat HUMILIATING! It was a salutary test of humility for a professional person to start begging for his bread and butter. Jim soon stopped viewing the seeking of support as begging. After all, the first missionary to the Gentiles, (Paul) made it clear that the gifts given him were really a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God (Phil 4:18). And did not Jesus say it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). Instead of begging for money, Jim was giving his team (as he called his supporters) an opportunity to offer up a fragrant offering to God."

   What a testimony as God faithfully provided for 38 years!!

  To God be the glory, and thank you for your fragrant offerings team!!!
